Presenting organization: Coyes & Associates Business Development Services / Cando

Session length: Three (3) hours

Description

Strategic analysis, planning and implementation tools that practitioners can bring back to their communities and apply to their economic development initiatives will be shared.

The following tools, that have been developed over 20+ years of use in Aboriginal communities, will be introduced in the workshop:

  • A strategic analysis tool, designed to assist with thinking through situations and options for improving the quality of economic development decisions making.  It will help with identifying strengths and weaknesses as well as areas of opportunity and areas of concern – it will show where work needs to be done as sustainable, self-determined economic development is pursued.
  • A screening tool to use in response to proposals received from prospective economic development partners (i.e. industry, other Indigenous communities, etc.);
  • Graphic illustrations and charts focused on providing both practitioners and leadership with succinct and straight-forward overviews of enterprise development processes and key strategy elements.
