In July 2016, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to “examine the current fiscal arrangement(s) to identify areas/elements of the existing relationship that are impeding progress in moving towards a government-to-government relationship.”

Participants will Learn

Chief David Jimmie was appointed to the Chiefs Committee on Fiscal Relations. He has been tasked to seek input from BC First Nations and compile that input to be reported back to the National Table. Sessions have been scheduled around B.C. in September and October, information will be provided to participants on what are the next steps, and what is being discussed regarding the New Fiscal Relationship.

Presenter Biographies

Paul, who joined Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) in July 1994, is a member of the Katzie First Nation. Currently an Operations Manager in Funding Services, Paul has also worked as a Community Initiatives Officer in Community Development, a Funding Services Officer, as well as Band Governance and Estates.
