Making Your Lands Instruments Work in Harmony

Description
This workshop will outline the different type lands instruments and when those instruments can best be used. The workshop will briefly explain the difference between permits, leases, locatee leases, agriculture leases, easements, section 18(2) leases, and section 18(2) right of access. The presenters will demonstrate the difference between the land instruments through examples and mini cases studies. The last 45 minutes of the workshop would entail an open dialogue with participants through a Q and A session.
What Participants will learn by attending
Participants will learn about the different types of lands instruments and when those instruments can be used. By the end of this workshop, participants would be able to identify the best land instrument to complete economic development projects or other projects that are identified by the community’s land use plans.

Presenter Biographies
Jodee Dick is the granddaughter of the late great chief William Roberts of the Campbell River Indian Band. Jodee has over 30 years of extensive experience in all aspects of land management, negotiations, land managers training, capital infrastructure, financial management, and many other areas.
Majd Qutob is a Senior Program Officer from ISC with 6 years of lands and leasing experience. Majd started with ISC as a COOP student in 2012 working and gaining valuable training and experience in Lands and Leasing on reserve. Since 2013, Majd has worked as a lands records a researcher for treaty, a monitoring and compliance lands officer, and a land management and leasing officer.
