Appraisal 101 will provide a general introduction to real property appraisals and an overview of common challenges many First Nations and appraisers encounter when appraising on-reserve real property assets. The discussion will include recommended best practices to follow when hiring an appraiser and establishing the Terms of Reference for any given assignment.

Speaker Bio

After completing his Undergraduate degree (History) and Masters of Business Administration, Mr. Smirl completed post graduate certificates in Real Property Valuation and agriculture studies. As a designated appraiser specializing in on-reserve real estate valuation and consulting assignments throughout the Canada, Mr. Smirl has an extensive background in completing complex appraisal assignments on and off reserve lands.
